Zz - ZZ Plant (Zamioculcas zamiifolia) is prized for upright stems and glossy leaflets that give an indoor display a polished appearance. Common names for this plant group include ZZ Plant, Zanzibar Gem, Zuzu Plant, Eternity Plant.
Light Needs: Medium to bright indirect light. Tolerates lower light, but growth slows. Avoid harsh direct sun.
Difficulty Level: Easy. Stores moisture in thick rhizomes and tolerates occasional missed waterings.
Pet Safety: Moderate. Insoluble calcium oxalate crystals can cause painful mouth irritation, drooling, vomiting, and difficulty swallowing in cats and dogs. Keep away from pets that chew plants.
Watering Needs: Allow most or all of the mix to dry before watering. Saturate evenly, drain fully, and wait longer in low light or during slow growth.
Soil Preference: Use a free-draining indoor potting mix with generous pumice and some pine bark. Avoid dense, persistently wet soil around the moisture-storing rhizomes.
Zz - ZZ Plant adds distinctive botanical character to a thoughtfully placed plant collection. Match its light and watering needs to your space to enjoy its growth and ornamental appeal over time.
